Dear CMS Families,
We are excited to welcome everyone back for another wonderful school year at Christine Meikle!
Over the past week, our admin team, bus teams, teachers, OTPTSLP, and support staff have been working hard to prepare for a smooth and successful start-up. The bus teams and classroom staff have made every effort to connect with each family before the first day of school, and we hope you have had an opportunity to speak with the members of your child's team.
Our CMS staff have spent considerable time training, planning, preparing classrooms and programming, and ensuring that everything possible is in place for a positive and welcoming return to school. We are looking forward to seeing our students and supporting them as they begin a new year of learning, growth, and connection.
We also hope that any required equipment, supplies, and medications have been dropped off/arrangements for drop off have been made with teachers AND that all necessary forms have been completed on PowerSchool. If there is anything outstanding, please reach out to the school office so we can assist you.
We recognize that there may have been changes in staff for some students. We hope that everyone received the communication sent in June outlining staffing changes, including those staff members who were leaving CMS and those who have joined our team. However, in case you did not receive that information, we would like to share the following updates:

This time of year often brings change, and while it is always difficult to say goodbye, I am grateful for the contributions of our departing staff members. We wish them all the best in their next adventures—we know great opportunities await them. There will likely continue to be staffing updates into early September.

inform | New-to-Meikle Teachers for the 2026-27 School Year
We are excited to welcome four new staff members to Meikle next year:
- Cassandra Holst – Music and Support Teacher
Cassandra is a newly graduated teacher from Mount Royal University. She has a passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs, developed through her experience working in respite care. - Yvonne Chen – Orange Wing
Yvonne has been filling in for several of our teachers on leave this year. She brings previous experience with the Calgary Board of Education and has already become a familiar face in our school community. - Ying Su – Green Wing
Ying is a new graduate from St. Mary’s University. Before earning her teaching degree in Alberta, she worked as an Educational Assistant with the CBE and, prior to that, as a teacher in China. - Darko Pibrovec – Embedded Supply Teacher
Darko brings extensive experience working in a variety of unique settings throughout the CBE. He has been working regularly at Meikle for the past year and a half, and we are thrilled to have him returning to our team.
As always, we appreciate your partnership and trust. We know that the beginning of the school year can bring excitement, anticipation, and sometimes a few nerves. It may require patience from all, as we iron out the back-to-school "crinkles". Please know that our entire team is here to support your child and your family.
